The boys basketball season for the Olive Branch Conquistadors ended with a 25-7 record after Brandon Bulldogs ousted Olive Branch from the MHSAA 6A Mississippi state tournament Saturday morning 71-64 in a state quarterfinal game at Jackson State University.
It was the second straight time Brandon had this season beaten Olive Branch, which lost to the Bulldogs early in the year by a 60-58 score.
The Conquistadors' 25-7 season record, however, was the best final season record for the program since 2008.

Josh Stephenson led Olive Branch in the first half with six points, while sophomore standout DJ Jeffries was held to just four points in the opening half of play. Jeffries was also saddled with three first-half fouls.
Brandon extended the lead to 45-42 after three quarters and at one time had a 13-point margin before Olive Branch closed the gap at quarter's end.
The final eight minutes became a shootout, as the Bulldogs outscored Olive Branch 26-22 in the final quarter for the seven-point win.
Lagarious White Jr. of Brandon led all scorers with 21 points. Kelvin Allen paced the Olive Branch attack with 16 points. Stephenson finished with 15 points and Jeffries had 13 for the Quistors.
Brandon outrebounded Olive Branch 38-34, despite Stephenson's seven rebounds and Jeffries' six.
For the game, Brandon hit on 43 percent of shots from the floor and was 7-18 from three-point range. Olive Branch was 36.2 percent from the floor, but only 21.1 percent from outside the three-point line.
Brandon meets Murrah, a 50-42 winner in the second quarterfinal of the morning, in a 7 p.m. semi-final game on Wednesday, March 8 at Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
