St. Benedict's at Auburndale 6, Northpoint Christian 5

SBA scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win. Northpoint scored four times in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead. Lance Saulsberry, Jared Huen and Blake Cherry each had two hits among 10 Trojan safeties. Justin Jones and Cherry each drove in a pair of runs. Blake Berry struck out two on the mound for Northpoint.

SPORTS ETC: Four DeSoto County baseball players were named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches 5A/6A North All-Star team Monday. They were Ben Brantley and Dalton Kendrick of Hernando, Kamren James of DeSoto Central and Landon Rogers of Lewisburg. They will play their South counterparts on Friday and Saturday, June 7-8 at William Carey University's Milton Wheeler Field in Hattiesburg.

The schedule has been set for the Lewisburg-Saltillo MHSAA 5A playoff series, which will start Thursday at Lewisburg, starting at 5 p.m. Game two will be played at Saltillo on Friday night, with game three, if needed, coming back to Lewisburg on Saturday. The winner will advance to the North Half Final.  

Oxford defeated Madison Central 3-1 Monday to move to the MHSAA 6A third round and face DeSoto Central, beginning Thursday. DeSoto Central will host game one Thursday at 7, and if needed, game three on Saturday, also at 7 p.m. Game two is Friday in Oxford, again with a 7 p.m. first pitch time.

Hernando travels to Northwest Rankin for its first game of the third round Thursday at 7 p.m. Game two comes back to Hernando on Friday at 7 p.m. and if needed, a third game reverts back to Northwest Ranking on Saturday, again at 7 p.m.
