Olive Branch girls basketball coach Jason Thompson, shown during a timeout last season with the Lady Quistors, reached the 400-victory level Tuesday in his team's 75-35 victory over Greenwood.  

In girls’ basketball play Tuesday, Olive Branch coach Jason Thompson claimed his 400th career coaching victory in a 75-35 victory at Greenwood. The total includes his time in Olive Branch and coaching the H.W. Byers program for 15 years before his arrival in DeSoto County last season. 

Hernando improved to 16-1 for the season with a 70-50 defeat of North Panola. The Lady Tigers will face Southaven in its MHSAA 6A district opener on Friday night at Southaven. 

A’mya Washington’s 14 points and Rachel Hightower’s 10 points led DeSoto Central to a 52-34 victory at Oxford. The Lady Jags open MHSAA 6A district play against Horn Lake in a boy-girl doubleheader Friday night. 

Northpoint Christian recovered from two losses at the DragonFire Classic in Collierville to open TSSAA district play with a 60-14 victory at Rossville Christian. 

Kossuth edged Lewisburg 54-53 and Collierville, Tenn. defeated Lake Cormorant 59-33 in other DeSoto County girls basketball games reported from Tuesday night. 

In Tuesday high school boys’ basketball, Lewisburg won its third straight game and improved to 7-7 for the year with a 54-50 win at Kossuth, while Northpoint Christian dropped to 8-5 in losing its TSSAA district opener at Rossville Christian 41-23. 

Oxford won at home against DeSoto Central 61-50, while North Panola defeated Hernando 59-53, and a three-pointer at the buzzer gave Collierville, Tenn. a 64-63 victory at home over Lake Cormorant.

In soccer, Center Hill was scheduled to meet DeSoto Central Tuesday, but the boy-girl doubleheader was postponed to a later date due to the extreme cold weather.
