Former Northwest Mississippi Community College All-American lefthander and Horn Lake native Cody Reed, in his first season with the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Advanced-A Royals), has been selected to play in the 2015 California-Carolina All-Star Game.

"I'm really looking forward to pitching in this All-Star Game," Reed said. "I've never been to California so it's going to be a lot of fun. It's pretty cool to be selected and it legitimately means a great deal to me."

The 19th edition of the all-star game is set for Tuesday, June 23 at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and features the top 40 players in the Carolina League.

Reed is one of four Rocks to be selected for the game. The Rocks' four selections are tied for the most in the league.

The Horn Lake native and 46th overall selection by the Royals in 2013 has had a solid season with the Rocks, posting a 5-4 record with a Carolina League-best 1.72 ERA. He also ranks among the league's elite in strikeouts (61, third), batting average against (.227, fourth) and WHIP (1.10, eighth).
