Ashtyn Baker

Former Northpoint Christian basketball star Ashtyn Baker is shown playing at the Mullins Center, Amherst, Mass. earlier this year for Liberty University during a matchup between the Flames and the University of Houston.

For the second week in a row and the fifth time this season, Liberty University's Ashtyn Baker, a former Northpoint Christian School standout and Miss Tennessee Basketball, has been recognized as Big South Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

Baker, who was previously honored on Nov. 13, Dec. 4, Dec. 27 and Feb. 19, is now tied with Michelle Fricke (1999-2000) for the second-most Big South Freshman of the Week awards in program history. Only Keyen Green (8 in 2016-17) has won the award more often among Lady Flames.

The native of Nesbit, scored a team-high 16.5 points per game during the Lady Flames' road wins at Winthrop and Charleston Southern last week. She shot 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the field, while making all of her three-point attempts (3-of-3) and free throws (4-of-4).
