Six DeSoto County volleyball players have been given all-state status, a first for the sport among Mississippi high schools.

Volleyball coaches across the state picked a first and second All-State Team and four players from DeSoto County schools were named to the first team and two more were selected to the second team.

The first-team selections from DeSoto County featured two players from DeSoto Central and one from Lake Cormorant, schools that played in the MHSAA state championships matches in Class III and II, respectively.

They are Mattie Meine and Kennedy Schritenthal of DeSoto Central and Madison Stevens of Lake Cormorant.

In addition, Noa Parks of Lewisburg, which made the Class II state semifinals, was also chosen first-team All-State.

The second team selections include Zoe Storck of DeSoto Central and Hernando’s Kaitlyn Doyle.
