Donald E. “Don” Swanson Sr., 89, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019. He was the retired President and co-owner of Hernando Boneless Beef, founder and first director of Desoto County EMS and a founding father of the Desoto County Rescue Squad. He helped form the Hernando Police Department Auxiliary, worked with the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department Internal Affairs and was an Auxiliary Deputy for several administrations. He was an alderman for the City of Hernando for 17 years and was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Hernando Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hernando Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Hernando Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. Swanson. Survivors include his sons, Don Swanson, Jr. (Nancy) of Evansville, Indiana, Scott Swanson (Joanne) of Senatobia; grandchildren, Kate West, Nathan Swanson, William Swanson, Jackie Sullivan, Dale Swanson Jr, Scottie Swanson; ten great- grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and his best friend and canine companion, Lannie.
