Anne Chatham Purvis, 84, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018. She was a member of Hernando United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 60 years. She enjoyed going on mission trips. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hernando United Methodist Church. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, also at Hernando United Methodist Church. Hernando Funeral Home has charge. Anne was born April 10, 1933 to the late Gerald and Minnie Chatham. She was a graduate of Hernando High School and Millsaps College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley “Doc” Purvis and a sister, Carole Moore. Survivors include her daughter, Mindy P. Merkel (James); sons, Edward C. Purvis and Claude Purvis (Beth); granddaughter Mary Anne Purvis; sister Eone Riales (Bob); brother Gerald W. Chatham (Kathy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
