A Horn Lake man faces a January court date and is in jail on armed robbery and other charges after his arrest near a convenience store late Wednesday evening.
Romello Willingham, age 19, was arrested shortly after Horn Lake Police officers were called to the Save-N-Sak Grocery convenience store at 5900 Highway 301 in Horn Lake, which was robbed at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
According to police information, officers on arrival located Willingham about a block away from the store in the area of Arrowhead and Cherokee.
Willingham tried to flee from the officers, who gave chase and captured him a short distance later.
While investigating the robbery, it was determined that Willingham had an undisclosed amount of money on him that matched the amount of cash taken from the store.
The suspect’s clothing also matched that of the man captured on store surveillance video.
The cash taken in the robbery was returned and no one was hurt in the incident.
Willingham is in custody of the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center as of Friday noon on charges of armed robbery, resisting arrest/obstructing, disorderly conduct/failure to comply, false identifying information, and public drunkenness.
Bond for Willingham totals $51,500 for all of the charges and a Jan. 17 court appearance date has been set in the case.
