Hernando’s town square saw some serious traffic congestion Friday evening without a single car on the road. Instead, bicycles, scooters, wagons, strollers and other wheeled contraptions paraded through the streets for the annual bicycle parade hosted by the Optimist Club of Hernando. The event rolled out from Hernando Baptist Church and took a lap around the town square, taking about 30 minutes for the whole parade party to make it around the block and back. Participants dressed in red, white and blue and spruced up their rides with all sorts of patriotic accessories, all to herald in the United States 245th birthday.
