Police investigation

A person is being held in connection with a shooting in Southaven Friday that has sent a man to a Memphis hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Southaven Police report they were informed at 12:50 p.m. Friday of a shooting victim who was found at the Burger King restaurant on Church Road.

Officers arrived and rendered aid to the victim there until an ambulance arrived to transport the victim to Regional One in Memphis. The shooting victim was then taken directly into surgery to be treated.

While officers were on the scene with the wounded man, he was able to relate that the incident took place at a warehouse on Research Drive, which is south of the Helen of Troy distribution center. A description of the vehicle the shooter was in was given and authorities started their search for that vehicle.

A DeSoto County Sheriff’s deputy was able to spot the vehicle a short time later and detain the person inside.

Police cautioned late Friday afternoon the case was in the early stages of investigation and no formal charges had yet been filed, adding identities of the people involved would be released when those charges are filed.
