Greg Smorowski, Southaven Police Officers Brett Logazino and Jason Asbury, Hernando Police Officer Falando Marion, and Horn Lake Police Officer Jason Cooper light their squad car blue lights Monday evening at the I-269/Getwell Road interchange. They were among a statewide effort from law enforcement called the Light It Blue Mississippi Initiative. Tunica County Sheriff K.C. Hamp came up with the idea to take one hour of the day on Memorial Day to show respect for fallen officers and heroes on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic. DeSoto County officers were also stationed on I-55 south of I-269 and on U.S. Highway 78 near the weigh station in Olive Branch.
