A man from Horn Lake is among two Navy pilots who died Sunday in a plane crash in East Tennessee.

Information from the U.S. Navy reported the victims of the crash of a T-45C aircraft in Tellico Plains, Tenn. as Lt. j.g. Wallace Burch, age 25 of Horn Lake, along with Lt. Patrick L. Ruth, age 31 of Metairie, La.

Both pilots were assigned to the "Eagles" of Training Squadron (VT) 7, based at the Naval Air Station in Meridian.

Burch had been in the Navy for nearly three years and was a member of VT-7 since 2016. He was commissioned in January 2015.

He attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. in 2014.

Ruth had been in the Navy for nine years and was a member of VT-7 since 2015.

The T-45C is a trainer jet and the two were on a training mission when the crash took place.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the mishap, a cause officials stated would likely take weeks to complete.
