The Thanksgiving holiday next week will mean adjustments in the waste collection schedules in DeSoto County.
Most communities will not have collections on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Instead, Thursday’s pickup will take place on Friday and Friday’s regular pickup that week will come on Saturday.
Monday-Wednesday waste collection will take place on their regularly scheduled days.
County officials add that curbside garbage and recycling service will also be affected during the Thanksgiving week in the unincorporated areas of DeSoto County.
Waste Pro USA will not operate on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, Nov. 22 and service will again be one day late for the remainder of the week.
County rubbish and debris collection will not operate on Thursday or Friday of Thanksgiving week. The rubbish facility on West Sandidge Road in Olive Branch is closed on Thanksgiving day. The pit will be open on Friday, Nov. 23, however, from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and again Saturday, Nov. 24, between the hours of 7 a.m.-12 noon.
Metal, E-waste, and tire recycle drop off services are available during operating hours.
