DeSoto County residents will not be served by garbage collection on Thanksgiving, as county and city officials report those services will be moved back one day for that week.
In Olive Branch, Southaven, Hernando and Horn Lake, regular collection will be done as normal on Monday-Wednesday, but there will be no collection done on Thursday.
Collection will be one day behind, meaning Thursday pickup will be done on Friday and Friday’s scheduled collection day will become Saturday for that week only.
DeSoto County Environment Services Manager Ray Laughter also reported a similar schedule for the unincorporated areas of the county.
Waste Pro USA, which handles pickup in DeSoto County, will not collect on Thanksgiving Day and service will be a day late for the remainder of the week, meaning Thursday pickup will be on Friday and Friday collections done on Saturday.
Laughter added the county curbside and rubbish collection service will not take place on Thursday or Friday.
The County Rubbish Facility at 5255 West Sandidge Road in Olive Branch will be closed on Thursday, but the pit will be open Friday from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m.-12 noon.
Metal, E-waste, and Tire Recycle drop off services are available during operating hours.
