Garbage Truck And Sanitation Worker

Most DeSoto County communities and the unincorporated areas of the county will not have garbage and recycling services available during the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr./Robert E. Lee holiday this Monday, Jan. 15.

Entities served by Waste Pro USA will not have garbage service on Monday to observance of the holiday. That includes DeSoto County, according to Ray Laughter, County Director Environmental Services/Parks and Greenways.

Pickup days will be pushed one day ahead this week. Monday customers will be served on Tuesday, Tuesday customers on Wednesday, etc. with Friday pickup taking place on Saturday.

Most cities will likely follow the same schedule, although it is recommended customers check with their city offices to be sure.

Laughter added the County Rubbish Pit, 5255 West Sandidge Road in Olive Branch, will be closed on Monday, but will be open from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on all other regularly scheduled days of the week, Saturday until 12 noon.

Laughter encouraged people with questions about county service to call 662-469-8152 or visit the county website at desotocountyms.gov.
