The Historic DeSoto Foundation and the DeSoto County Museum will hold its annual open house on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the DeSoto County Museum located at 111 E. Commerce Street, Hernando.
"We have a very special event planned," said Brian Hicks, Executive Director of the DeSoto County Museum. "First, we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the DeSoto County Museum. In addition, we will be honoring our retiring chairman, Dr. Roma Thorn, who after many years of dedicated service, is stepping down from our Board of Directors."
Hicks said the program will center around one of the museum's latest exhibits.
"This year's program ties into our current temporary exhibit that we developed in conjunction with the Unknown Child Foundation," Hicks said. "Our speakers will be two Holocaust survivors who will tell about their survival during this unbelievably terrible time for the Jewish people. This very popular exhibit will be only available until mid-March, so this would be one of your last opportunities to view it before it leaves our facility.
A reception and touring of the museum and Holocaust exhibit will follow the program.
