Body found in lake

The body of a man believed to be that of an elderly male was found floating in an Olive Branch lake early Friday morning.

Identification on the scene was made difficult due to the decomposition of the body.

DeSoto County Interim Coroner Joshua Pounders said the body will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory in Pearl for an autopsy.

According to Pounders, the body was discovered by a jogger who was jogging around a lake in the Lexington Crossing subdivision in Olive Branch.

"He was discovered just before 10 a.m. this morning (Friday) by a jogger passing by who was jogging around the lake," Pounders said.

"At the moment we do not have an identity," added Pounders. "Olive Branch Police are going door-to-door to collect information to see if anyone knows somebody who is missing. If anybody has information on someone who might be missing, please contact the Olive Branch Police Department at 662-892-9400."
