RESOLUTION OF THE DESOTO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO ABANDON A PORTION OF CUB LAKE ROAD IN DESOTO COUNTY.

According to the authority granted by Mississippi Code 65-7-121, the Board of Supervisors shall hold a public hearing on March 18, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. to hear public opinion on the abandonment of a portion of Cub Lake Road in DeSoto County, Mississippi. At the February 4, 2019 meeting, the Board of Supervisors considered the following:

1. The section of road does not provide primary access to occupied properties, other than those landowners requesting the abandonment;

2. traffic on the section of road has, for a period of at least ten consecutive years, been intermittent and of such low volume that no substantial public purpose is being served;

3. Thereby, it is the public interest or convenience to close, vacate and abandon the section.

According to the laws of Mississippi in MS Code 65-7-121, the Board of Supervisors will abrogate the easement theretofore owned, held, claimed or used by, or on behalf of, the general public, but will not affect any private easements.

The section of roadway being considered for abandonment is Cub Lake Road from Highway 301 South eastward to the current end of county maintenance.

The public is invited and encouraged to come to the meeting to express their concerns or approval of this abandonment.
