Stylist and salon owner Andrea Kelso is bringing some flair and elegance along with just a little glitz and glamour from New York City to the DeSoto County seat.
Kelso opened her new salon by the same name following red carpet fanfare last week.
Helping Kelso in new new endeavor is Koby Ben, Alibi Art Director and salon owner in NYC and a celebrity hair stylist in the trendy Soho section of New York City.
"I've been in the business for 22 years," Kelso said. "I've been to New York several times and met my mentor, Koby Ben. We're bringing a different concept to Mississippi. We want to bring a certain positive energy and new concept. I have a full clientele list," added Kelso of her coterie of satisfied clients.
Kelso said Gould's Academy in Memphis was also very helpful as she set out to open her salon in Hernando.
Some styles at Kelso salon may be a bit daring but Ben, who was on hand for the grand opening, gave Kelso some sage advice.
"I hope that she will help people understand two things," Ben said. "Face your fears and don't be afraid to dream big. Once you take the first step, keep going. She (Kelso) is a Memphis visionary."
Ben, who is owner of Alibi in New York City, said Kelso's styling abilities are impressive.
"She will keep it simple, yet elegant," Ben said. "She's bringing NYC to the Memphis area."
