Jr. StreetKings summer camp starts next week. The first camp will be a free “learn-to-inline skate” camp sponsored by Maddox Foundation beginning Tuesday, July 14 through Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Beginners will learn to inline skate and learn the fundamentals on the basics of hockey. These will include skating, skating with a stick, and a brief introduction to the game of hockey.
Helmets, skates and the sticks will be supplied. Though free of charge, space is limited so early sign-up is recommended.
The second camp, for youth with established skating skills, focuses on more advanced aspects of hockey and runs from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
The camp will consist of drills, plays, conditioning, strength skating, stick handling, passing and shooting. During fun time campers will also play baseball, soccer, and soccer baseball, and have moon bounces and waterslides. Campers are asked to bring their own lunch and a bathing suit. Cost is $100. RiverKings players will be on hand as instructors for all camps.
