HORN LAKE - The skies over Horn Lake will once again be filled with traditionally southern tunes later this month as the chamber hosts the second of two musical series evemts.
Chamber Director Larry Witherspoon said Bullfrogs and Bluegrass, set for Sept. 20 at Audubon Point RV Park, follows February's Creole Crawfish Festival as a "Mississippi Music Heritage Series" event.
It will feature three bluegrass bands - Gone South, Single Tree and Deep Hollow - from the Memphis area, dancing, food and craft vendors and games, he said.
"We've added things not normally at bluegrass festivals," Witherspoon said about karaoke and horseshoe contests and crafts vendors that will include a candlemaker and quilting guilt. "We tried to set it up with things people did when bluegrass came out."
Witherspoon said the Craftsmans Guild of Mississippi also will be on hand for demonstrations such as a spinning wheel.
"There will be some neat stuff to look at, and different groups that people may not have heard of before," he said. "It's somewhere to take a family, a little something for everybody."
Admission to Bullfrogs and Bluegrass, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., is free.
