HERNANDO - Forty-nine year-old Lois Anderson received a 23-year prison sentence on Monday for stealing more than $140,000 from her employer.
The sentence, handed down by DeSoto County Circuit Court Judge Bobby Chamberlin, calls for Anderson to serve only three years in prison, with the remaining 20 suspended, for credit fraud, forgery and grand larceny.
She also will be required to pay a $1,000 fine, court costs, $7,082 in restitution, $200 to the state crime victim's fund and $133,923.14 to the Fireman's Fund Insurance Co.
Assistant Dist. Attorney Smith Murphey said the larger amounts represent what Anderson took from Joe Poppenheimer during a three-and-a-half year period while working as the real estate manager's employee.
