Adult club replaces Walls billboard
WALLS - A Memphis adult entertainment club's controversial billboard on Highway 61 has been replaced, according to Walls Mayor Gene Alday.
Alday said the billboard - second in a series of three for The Pony and carried the phrase "Got boobs?" - now has a pair of baseballs in place of the word "boobs."
Alday said he met with club owner Charles "Jerry" Westlund on Friday about the change.
"It is baseball season and he does have TVs and has sports parties in his place," the mayor said. "I haven't had any complaints (about the new billboard) and I'm not going to push it that much more."
He said the replacement would be acceptable unless complaints started coming in about it.
"I'm not 100 percent happy, but I'm a little more content than I was last week," Alday said. "I'm still not loving it, but I can live with it if I have to."
